Sant’Agnese it’s one of the main folk celebration in L' Aquila. It is on the 21st of January. The legend has is that in 1300. People who get bored with the lords of the city, used to meet in taverns making gossip about the private life of these lords (sex, cheating, shenanigans). When the lords knew the rumours, they banned the big mouth away from the city. After many years, the banished could come back to the city, exactly on the 21st of January. From that moment on, every year on the 21 of January, groups of citizens get reunited in taverns or restaurants with a lot of wine, celebrating in a goliardic way, chatting and making gossips.
